Your numbers changed. Your nutrition strategy should too.

Private, one-on-one nutrition coaching with Heather Bauer, RDN — 20+ years helping women turn a concerning lab result into a plan they can actually live with. Prediabetes and blood sugar, thyroid and Hashimoto's, high cholesterol, the shifts after a hysterectomy — we build your strategy around what your body needs now

Heather is a consummate professional and is so wonderful to work with. It is a congenial partnership that we are in together. I highly recommend her!

This isn’t a meal plan you’ll forget about. It’s a partnership.

A Plan Built Around Your Body

No templates. I build your nutrition strategy around your labs, your medications, your schedule, and how you actually like to eat — not a generic "diabetic diet" or "thyroid diet" printout.

Weekly Zoom Sessions

We meet every week by video to review what's working, adjust the plan, and keep you moving toward your goals.

Daily Text Access

Between sessions, you have my direct number. Send me a restaurant menu before you go out, and I'll tell you exactly what to order. Forget to log your food? I'll notice and reach out. This isn't a chatbot or a portal, it's me, checking in, keeping you honest, and making sure nothing falls through the cracks. Most clients say this is what finally makes the difference.

If your bloodwork was a wake-up call, you don't have to figure it out alone

A flagged result — a rising A1C or blood sugar, a thyroid that's making everything harder, cholesterol that crept up, the hormonal shift after a hysterectomy — changes how your body responds to food. The advice you get is usually "eat better and exercise more," which isn't a plan. What actually moves the needle is a strategy built for your numbers and your life, working alongside the doctor who's monitoring them. That's what I do.

About Me

I'm a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with over 20 years of experience and thousands of clients. I've spent most of my career working with women in midlife who want to lose weight and feel better without extremes or rigid plans. I'm the author of Bread Is the Devil, The Wall Street Diet, and The Food Fix, and my work has been featured in national media outlets from The New York Times to CNN.

I don't believe in one-size-fits-all. I believe in learning how you actually live and building a plan that works inside that life — not outside it.

Why work with me vs. an insurance dietitian?

You get me, not whoever's available

Insurance platforms assign you whoever has an opening, often someone just a few years out of school juggling hundreds of clients. Here, you work directly with a dietitian who's spent 20+ years helping thousands of women lose weight.

This isn't a printout from the doctor's office

A "diabetic diet" or "low-cholesterol" handout doesn't account for your schedule, your tastes, or what you'll actually do. I coach the real-life behavior, not a PDF.

Support doesn't end when the clock stops

Insurance only pays for appointments. I'm available daily, texting when you're stuck at a restaurant, checking in when motivation dips, helping you recover when things go sideways.

Yes, it costs more than a copay

If the insurance route worked, you wouldn't be here. This is for women who want behavior change that lasts, not just another plan to forget about.

What happens on the call

It's a real 15-minute conversation, not a sales pitch. Tell me what your labs are showing, what your doctor said, and what you've already tried. I'll tell you honestly whether I think I can help and what working together would look like. If it's not a fit, I'll say so.

Let's talk about what's going on and how I can help.

  • Nutrition is one of the most powerful levers you have, and I coach you on it alongside the doctor who's tracking your numbers. I don't diagnose or manage the condition — I help you change what you eat and how you live so you're giving yourself the best shot.

  • Yes. Many of my clients are working with a thyroid issue that makes weight and energy harder. I build a realistic plan around it — I don't replace your endocrinologist or your medication.

  • Absolutely. We build an eating strategy you can actually sustain, coordinated with what your physician is monitoring.

  • Yes — hormonal shifts change how your body responds to food, and I tailor your plan to where you are now.

  • No. I work alongside your medical team. I handle the nutrition and the day-to-day behavior; they handle your medical care.

  • Yes — and honestly, it might be even more important. Weight loss medications change your appetite, digestion, and how much you're able to eat. That creates a new set of challenges that most plans don't address. Without the right nutrition strategy, women on GLP-1s often under-eat without realizing it, miss key nutrients, lose muscle along with weight, and struggle with energy and consistency. I'll build a plan that works with your medication — so it becomes a long-term solution, not a temporary fix.

  • No, this is a private-pay practice and insurance doesn’t not pay for the hands on coaching that I offer. However, I accept FSA and HSA, and I can provide a coded superbill for you to submit to your insurance carrier for potential reimbursement.

  • No to both. If you're hungry all the time, the plan isn't working. I use specific strategies to help you feel full and satisfied without relying on willpower. Most of my clients actually prefer what they're eating on the plan to what they were eating before.

  • Yes — that's exactly what the free consultation is for. It's 15 minutes on Zoom, no obligation. We'll talk about what's changed for you, what you've tried, and whether I think I can actually help. If we're not a good fit, I'll tell you that honestly.

  • Everyone's different and I never promise a specific number by a specific date. What I can tell you is that clients who stick with the plan tend to feel the difference well before their next round of bloodwork.
